Visual Effects now play a major part in the images we see around us, in feature films, TV drama, commercials, and web based material. Successful Visual Effects draw on skills from a great variety of disciplines, and BKSTS - The Moving Image Society's VFX conference is the only event to provide both the breadth and the depth of information required for professional growth in this fast moving business.

Designed to inform and educate everyone with a serious interest in Visual Effects, VFX 2002 is a must for artists, producers, technicians, supervisors, editors, directors, cinematographers, and facility managers at all levels - from senior professionals to new recruits.

With special sessions on the impact of digital cinema plus Visual Effects in large format, the mix of technologies, together with their creative applications, make this a truly special event. A tour of some of the top London facilities is a bonus for all full delegates.

Integral to the conference is the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other industry professionals, both in the formal sessions and the social events that complement the programme.

In a year when Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, the Bond Film Die Another Day, Tomb Raider and Harry Potter are all reported to be producing internationally acclaimed visual effects work, VFX2002 will once again be providing speakers from the many of the major projects and the top facility houses.

Topics include the amazing CGI work on Dinotopia, a look at Animation in Commercials, reports from overseas - including Hong Kong, Germany and New Zealand - a session on Production Choices in the Digital Age, the latest in Motion Capture from Vicon, and some informative sessions on Training Requirements in the Industry. All this coupled with an always popular strong IMAX Programme with a theme of 'The Power of Raw Effects' and manipulation of Large Format Images - for example, the work done on Apollo 13.
